Women-Owned Businesses Feature: Jewelry

In honor of Women's History Month, we're highlighting a few of our favorite local women-owned businesses. We are proud to partner with the talented jewelry makers and designers selected who help to make our shop so special. Read more about them below!

KEPT

KEPT founder Yvonne Spaminato counts vintage clothing and jewelry as some of her biggest influences, having managed Lost & Found Vintage in Royal Oak for a decade. After tweaking pieces in the shop, she was inspired to explore her creativity even more, starting her jewelry line KEPT.

Featuring natural gemstones, geometric shapes, and brass metals, her sophisticated designs are easy to wear, affordable pieces that blend well with any wardrobe.

Goldeluxe

After working and studying traditional wax-casting and metalsmithing at a Brooklyn-based jewelry studio, Goldeluxe designer Libby Hopper-Trajkovski went back to her Michigan roots in 2014 (along with her husband and dog) and now creates her design-forward jewelry out of her studio in Detroit.

She loves utilizing brass in her work as it's a lovely and affordable alternative to gold. True to Midwestern design and versatility, her handmade pieces are meant to be worn everyday in a variety of ways.

Rebel Nell

Though founder Amy Peterson initially moved to Detroit to build a career in sports law, she soon became drawn to the fallen pieces of local graffiti that make up the unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of Rebel Nell jewelry. Peterson, along with her colleague and friend, Diana Russell, founded the company in 2013, pairing creative, community-inspired design ideas with their desire to create job opportunities to empower disadvantaged women in the city.

Rebel Nell partners with local organizations as well as directly with homeless shelter caseworkers, seeking women struggling to find employment and hiring them as Creative Designers, where they will learn to create the colorful, unique pieces of jewelry the brand is known for.

In addition, Rebel Nell provides financial literacy and support services to their employees, helping them towards self-sufficiency and independence. Each Rebel Nell piece celebrates the vibrancy of local street art while giving back to the women of Detroit.
