The Legend of the Petoskey Stone
Join author Kathy-jo Wargin and illustrator Gijsbert van Frankenhuyzen in the book The Legend of the Petoskey Stone. "Petosegay" is a Native American word meaning "rays of the rising sun," or "sunbeams of promise." It brings to mind both a special special place and unique fossil found only in northern Michigan. The Legend of the Petoskey Stone shares the story of a man named after this word and how his extraordinary life inspired the name of a town as well as the treasured stone.
